Chi Friendship Blossoms
Back in September 2024, clients James and Nathan moved into a new home together in the north-eastern suburbs. Since then, it has been wonderful seeing their friendship with one another develop. They have spent time learning about each other and figuring out the best ways to communicate and support each other around their new home. The support team at Chi House have absolutely adored watching their friendship thrive.
Despite both James and Nathan having busy schedules at day options and employment, they still manage to spend quality time together. James and Nathan have become very social in our community at Lutheran Disability Services (LDS), and have done many activities together in the home and out and about in the local community. Have a look below at some of the photos of recent adventures they have had together – going to the movies, going to the Big Rocking Horse in Gumaracha, hanging out and being silly at home, and going for drives and checking out Adelaides’ sights!
Their friendship shows that if you have kindness, there are no boundaries when it comes to friendship.
James has been a client of LDS for many many years, and has primarily resided in the north east. In 2023, he began to live alone, and was keen to make a new friend to live with! However as client compatibility and support requirements are key, it took us some time to find the right housemate and friend for James. With some meet and greets, involving family members in coffee outings and picnics, and some time to get to know one another, excitingly Nathan and James indicated that they’d like to live together!
Nathan, who used to reside in QLD, became a new client of LDS in 2024, joining James in a brand new Specialised Disability Accommodation home built for their individual needs. In a cluster of three separate dwellings together, they have some familiar friends as neighbours and enjoy spending time together.
Note: One of these homes is currently awaiting tenancy, so if someone you know is in need of a new SIL home with quality supports, and like the idea of forming meaningful friendships with housemates, neighbours, and community, get in touch.
