Earlier this year, LDS celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special event bringing together staff, families, stakeholders and supporters to reflect on four decades of service, connection and impact. But there was one more group who deserved a celebration of their own, our clients.
To mark this important milestone, we hosted a carnival-themed picnic in the park dedicated to the people at the heart of everything we do. It was a day filled with laughter and fun, giving clients the chance to come together and celebrate 40 years of the LDS community in true carnival style.
The sunshine created a fantastic atmosphere and the event was filled with entertainment and activities for all ages and abilities.
Guests were treated to a full carnival experience, with plenty to see, do and enjoy. There was a special visit from Spider-Man, who happily posed for photos and shared plenty of superhero moments throughout the day. Support Worker Marco also stole the show as our very own Strong Man, fully embracing the carnival theme and drawing smiles wherever he went.
Adding to the excitement was a talented magician who amazed the crowd with an interactive performance packed with tricks and surprises. Across the park, clients enjoyed a variety of carnival games and activities, creating plenty of friendly competition and opportunities to connect with one another.
Of course, no carnival would be complete without great food. Guests enjoyed hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and fairy floss, along with a range of other treats that kept everyone fuelled for a fun-filled day.
More than just a celebration, the event was an opportunity to recognise the incredible community that has been built over the past 40 years. It was wonderful to see clients and staff coming together to make memories and celebrate the relationships that continue to make LDS such a special organisation.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and to the staff who volunteered their time and helped bring the day to life. Their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment ensured the celebration was one to remember.
As we celebrate this significant milestone, we remain grateful for the trust placed in LDS over the past four decades and excited for the future ahead. Here’s to 40 years of connection, inclusion and community, and many more to come.
